Why the THUNDER CUP? It's not because of the earth-shaking, thunderous noise that toy boats produce. It's because we had a thunderstorm at the start of the race.
Now if THAT intro doesn't get you intrigued, then I don't know what will.
The BIG winner of the day was MARK MILLER and his Miss Timex. Not only was the Timex the fastest qualifier, but it was clearly the fastest boat on the race course. In fact, it finished with a perfect 1600 points for the day.
Mark Weber's Miss Bardahl and Notre Dame re-joined the fleet and Jeff Dunn's new Wayfarer's Club Lady won the second heat.
It was obvious to all that most of us were terribly out of synch when it came to the all important start. Many gun jumpers. And talk about flips (we WERE talking about flips, right?) - THRIFTWAY TOO flipped in the corner. A kind and bribable turn judge helped right the ship and the Too went on to take second place in the heat. Almost a Flip and Win!
And then the day went to the dogs...in both hot form and Dave's new one.
Thanks to Hank K. for the hospitality and the race dogs at the end!
